WHATS IS PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE?

Redland's Creative Alliance Inc., since July 1st 2019 has Public Liability Insurance that covers all paid up members at Alliance events, exhibitions and functions it holds or is taking part in.

Since 2009 the Alliance has been a free membership organisation, unlike all the other art groups in the Redlands. As of September 2018 when we became incorporated we have taken on more responsibility and we couldn’t, as a group of the size we are, have public liability insurance without being incorporated.

This insurance is very necessary to protect you when you take part in events such as Redfest and exhibitions. For many years we have operated without this coverage in place - the crunch came in 2018 when a picture fell of the wall(not the first) at RPAC - it wasn't damaged and was badly framed and it didn't hurt anyone - thank goodness, BUT it could have and the Alliance members would have been liable.

So What is Public Liability Insurance?

Public liability insurance is designed for people who interact with customers or members of the public. It protects against claims of personal injury or property damage that a third party(members of the public) suffers (or claims to have suffered) as a result of your activities.

In real terms, this means that if someone is injured or their property is damaged while you’re providing a service, they may take legal action against you to recover their losses. Public liability insurance is designed to help protect your activities by ensuring that if this happens, you don’t have to pay any legal or court costs. It covers incidents that may occur at Alliance events or exhibitions.

Public liability insurance only covers claims made by external parties, not those made by our own members.

Claims of personal injury or property damage can be incredibly expensive. Even if you’re not at fault, you may still incur considerable legal costs while defending yourself. If you are a member our public liability will cover these costs.

Insurance coverage For You

To qualify to be covered by this insurance at any event held under the Alliance banner you will need to be a fully paid up member through our website. (your membership fee goes towards this insurance). This covers performance, 2D and 3D arts.

If  the Alliance is involved in any event or exhibition and you are participating you are covered.

If you enter an event or exhibition that the Alliance is not involved with you are not covered.

Please note there will still be the need to pay an entry fee to enter exhibitions and other events because - as the user pay society we live in demands, it costs to be involved at the venues we choose.

Membership fees are in various levels, go to the membership page here - ‘JOIN UP HERE’.
